BIOGRAPHY.

Tsubaki Factory was formed in late April 2015 with the idea to be Kobushi Factory's sister group, and to carry on Berryz Kobo's spirit. Their name was chosen by Hello! Project adviser and former Berryz Kobo member Shimizu Saki. The camellia (tsubaki) was "decided with praising the noble and cold beauty and wanting the group to be fresh and strong like the evergreen." They were officially announced on April 29th (through Hello! Station) which is also their anniversary date. Their very first performance was on May 4th where they performed a cover of "17sai" by Moritaka Chisato. They continued to perform this song during NEW FES.

On June 3rd their member colors were announced. In early August during the Hello! Project 2015 SUMMER concert, Yamagishi Riko was announced as leader and Ogata Risa as sub-leader. After the announcement, the girls decided to give each other a small "leader" roles. Kisora as "grooming" leader, Ami as cooking leader, Yumeno as "timing" leader / timekeeper, and Kiki as dressing room leader. This concept was merely a joke between them and hasn't been mentioned since 2016. Later in August, they finally announced an indie single named "Seishun Manmannaka! (In the Midst of Youth)". The single was released on September 6th, first selling at Hello Pro Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2015 ~9gatsu no Nama Tamago Show!~ concert venue and then later on through e-Lineup.

During all this time, rehearsal footage was shown of Tsubaki Factory in Hello! Station and GREEN ROOM, practicing various songs and obviously struggling. They were constantly being scolded by their teachers, and while Ami couldn't make it to Tokyo most times due to a leg injury and living in Hokkaido, they had to work as a 5 member group until November. However, despite the fact that they were scolded they kept on working hard.

On October 8th Tsubaki starred in a musical called Thank You Very Berry, which ran through to October 18th. It was directed by Sudo Maasa, who starred in the original version of Thank You Very Berry back in 2009. From mid-October To December Tsubaki was given little to no activities, their blogs were called "boring" by Hello! Pro wota and many took pity on them. Finally, however, on December 31st , Tsubaki Factory released their second indies single "Kedakaku Sakihokore!" (Blooming Nobly!) at the Hello! Project COUNTDOWN PARTY 2015 ~GOOD BYE & HELLO!~ concert venue.

Again from December to March 2016, Tsubaki were given almost nothing apart for Kenshuusei shows, and general Hello! Project concerts and gatherings, which garnered the same reaction from Hello! wota across the world. At this point, the general image Tsubaki Factory had was "boring", "dark", and "untalented", despite the fact that very little was known about them and that they hardly had any chance to show their true ability.

On March 19, Tsubaki Factory released their very first mini album titled Tsubaki Factory SOUND + VISION Vol.1 at SATOYAMA & SATOUMI e Ikou 2016 venue as a limited pre-sale. Many thought that a mini-album meant new songs, but it was just remastered versions of their first two indie singles, and recorded versions of their cover songs 17sai and Cabbage Hakusho ~Haru Hen~. It did however, contain 3 MV's and one live MV of above said songs. This gave fans a chance to see how Tsubaki would act in music videos. These were also their first music videos in almost a year since they were formed. The mini album was released for general sale on May 18. However, the mini-album was hardly promoted, so very few even knew about the release. Which meant that it sadly sold very little.

From May to early July Tsubaki did nothing again, however did start getting events around 2016 Summer Hello! Con such as Idol Yokochou Natsu Matsuri!!~ 2016 ~ and Tokyo Idol Fes 2016. At the beginning of the Summer Hello! Con they announced a new indies single: "Hitorijime / Watashi ga Obasan ni Natte mo" which was released on August 6th. Around this time, fans were wondering if they'd debut at all, however the single did get quite a bit of positive feedback for the polished MV.

On August 8th, Tsubaki Factory took part in a special AbemaTV episode where they promoted their latest indie single. On August 13, it was announced at Tsubaki Factory's third fanclub event that Hello Pro Kenshuusei members Ono Mizuho, Onoda Saori, and Akiyama Mao had joined the group as new members. Many fans were shocked and surprised, some even upset since most wanted to see Tsubaki debut as 6, or didn't want the new members being the reason why Tsubaki would finally debut. Many fans speculate that Tsubaki were told about the new members after their AbemaTV event. 3 and a half weeks laters, the group and it's new members had settled in and performed as 9 at Hello! Project Kenshuusei Happyoukai 2016 9gatsu ~SINGING!~ in September. Before their performance, they were interrupted and Hello! Project adviser Shimizu Saki walked out. There they were told they were to major debut in January 2017, almost two years after they were formed. The girls cried a lot and said they were to work harder than ever before.

On October 22, they announced during the Tsubaki Factory Ouen Kikaku ~Camellia Fights! vol.2~ event that their major debut single would be released on February 22, 2017 instead. This would also be called TsuTsuTsu Day as coined by Ogata Risa. On February 22, Tsubaki Factory released their major debut single, "Hatsukoi Sunrise / Just Try! / Uruwashi no Camellia. The amount of positive feedback this single got was astounding. On the day of their release, they held an event where leader Riko wrote a letter to the members and to fans. "Up to now, Tsubaki Factory have been told that we have this image of being reserved, dark, and quiet, but with our major debut, we'd like to do our best to make this year the year where Tsubaki Factory takes the lead role." Fans rejoiced as it was finally Tsubaki's turn to shine. Since then, their fanbase has been growing each day.

They released their second single on July 26th, called "Shuukatsu Sensation / Waratte / Hana Moyou". Please support Tsubaki Factory by helping them promote the single, or by buying it.

They are releasing their third single, called "Teion Yakedo / Shunrenka / I Need You ~Yozora no Kanransha~ " on Febuary 21st, 2018, a day before their major debut anniversary. To promote the single, they released a smartphone music video and a pre-release of Teion Yakedo as a single. At one of their release events, they announced that on Febuary 22nd, they will hold their first one man live. Please look forward to it!

The reason I wrote this is because I want people to see how hard Tsubaki has worked, that they didn't deserve all the initial hate they got and that the original 6 members are just as good and hard working as their second gen. I want people to see that Tsubaki Factory is capable of many things. That they were always capable of many things, and deserve all the goodness they are getting today. Please enjoy this page, feel free to share, and don't forget: "CAMELLIA FIGHT!"
